JAIPUR, Oct 4: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Sunday said small industries may be small in size, but their contribution to employment generation and nation-building is significant.

Addressing an entrepreneurs' conference organised by Laghu Udyog Bharati in Pali, Sharma said micro and small industries play an important role in providing jobs to youth, women and others close to their homes, particularly in villages and small towns.

He said that the state government is committed to supporting such industries and asked entrepreneurs to set up processing units based on local resources and agricultural produce.

Sharma said that the government is working to ensure availability of land, water and electricity for industries.

He said work has started on investments worth more than Rs 9 lakh crore out of MoUs worth Rs 35 lakh crore signed during the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit.

RIICO has allotted land to more than 3,000 MoU holders and construction work is underway in over 800 industrial units, he said.

The chief minister said the government has taken several steps to promote micro, small and medium enterprises, including the Rajasthan MSME Policy-2024 and the Rajasthan Integrated Cluster Development Scheme.

During the programme, Sharma released the Udyog Times booklet and Swayamsiddha poster.

BJP state president Madan Rathore, Laghu Udyog Bharati national secretary Prakash Chand Gupta and other office-bearers and entrepreneurs were present at the programme. (PTI)
