Jaipur: Rajasthan health department will begin termination proceedings against 678 govt doctors who failed to respond to a final notice by the Oct 5 deadline over prolonged unauthorised absence from duty. The notice had given doctors posted in govt medical institutions one last chance to either report for duty or explain their absence.Health department director (public health) Dr Ravi Prakash Sharma told TOI that hardly any doctor responded to repeated orders and warnings.âThese doctors remained absent without approval after transfers, postings, or completion of postgraduate studies. Their absence has blocked sanctioned posts and affected healthcare services in govt facilities,â Sharma said.He said the department will now initiate termination proceedings under Rule 86(4) of the Rajasthan Service Rules, 1951, and Rule 29 of the Rajasthan Service Rules, 1963.According to officials, the absentee doctors have not been paid salaries during their absence but continue to remain govt employees in official records. Some may be working elsewhere despite still being listed in state service.Their absence ranges from a few months to over 20 years, officials said.
